Viver no Meio do Barulho (Living in the Middle of the Noise) is a documentary project based in Rio de Janeiro.

In 2006, I photographed young people across four favelas in Rio de Janeiro ( Vigario Geral, Parad de Lucas, Complexo do Alemão, Cantagalo}. Seven years on, I reconnected with those same people to discover what direction their lives had taken.

While all eyes were on Brazil with the upcoming 2014 FIFA World Cup and the 2016 Olympics, these everyday stories offered another perspective on a world that is often eclipsed by the media attention on glamorous beach carnival life or dramatic violent crime. (Text to come)

With utmost gratitude to those who allowed me into their homes, neighbourhoods and shared their stories with me - Bebel, Anaderges, Lecão, Jessica, Jessica N, Marciana, Binho, Rafael. Massive thank you to those who helped make it all happen Damian Platt, Eve Belanger, Marty ‘Martinho’, and the entire AfroReggae clan (too many to mention)
